Families with young children often choose West Windsor as their home because of the strong school system. West Windsor and Plainsboro are both part of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. The district serves students from pre-K through 12th grade from both towns. It consists of four elementary schools, two upper elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. All schools are very highly rated and contain several award-winning teachers and administrators. The school system also provides athletic programs for a wide range of sports.

The town is extremely convenient not only for city commuters but for any of the surrounding areas. Route 1 runs straight through West Windsor and crosses the northwestern sections of the township. Princeton Junction Station is also right in town, a major commuter station taking passengers to both NYC and Philadelphia and many stops along the way.
