Hightstown

Hightstown is an independent borough within East Windsor. Mainly known for its quaint downtown and residential areas, Hightstown has quite a lot to offer. Besides its excellent restaurants, shops, and locally owned boutiques - the town also boasts a well-known prestigious private high school. It is also home to a popular golf course and plenty of beautiful parks and nature walks. It’s an excellent town for professionals, growing families, and individuals looking for a place to retire.

In the late 1600s, the area was built up into charming residential neighborhoods. You can still spot that history in the Stockton Street Historic District, which features gorgeous Victorian homes, the First Methodist Church, and the Hightstown Civil War Monument. The town is also known for its association with the first rail service to New Jersey.

Besides its downtown appeal and quiet historical residential area, Hightstown is also known for its excellent schools. Public school students from pre-K through 12th grade attend the East Windsor Regional School District. The district serves both East Windsor and Hightstown students. It consists of six schools, around 5,100 students, and 466 classroom teachers. Hightstown is also home to Peddie School - a unique, co-ed independent high school founded in 1864.

There are four main parks in Hightstown, as well as several playgrounds and recreational areas. Residents have access to several different walking and biking trails throughout town, along with sports fields and dog parks. The historic district offers several seasonal events and festivals throughout the year. You won’t have trouble finding something entertaining to do right inside the town! The surrounding town of East Windsor has a lot to offer as well.
