Seaside Heights

Located in Ocean County, Seaside Heights is a waterfront town situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, in between the Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The town is known for its boardwalk entertainment and attracts many young people during the summer season. Yes, it was the original filming location of the notorious MTV show “The Jersey Shore”, but the town has so much more to offer than just reality TV folklore.

The town’s entertainment focus was first established in 1915 when the Senate Amusement Company of Philadelphia made plans to build a seaside attraction on the border of Seaside Park. The covered pier with a carousel was the first ride to grace Seaside Heights. When the boardwalk was completed in 1921, the town began to experience a jump in population, especially during the summer months. Today, the Seaside Heights Boardwalk is one of the most popular vacation spots on the Jersey Shore, bringing tens of thousands of tourists every year. Besides the yards and amusement attractions, the boardwalk has many cafes, restaurants, bars, and nightlife spots.

Although the town has a youthful reputation, it’s also an excellent area for families. Seaside Heights has a little something for everyone with its clean, sandy beaches and weekly events and festivals. There are about 3,000 permanent residents that live in the town all year round, and it’s a much quieter spot when the summer ends.

The Seaside Heights School District serves students in pre-K through 6th grade at the Hugh J. Boyd Jr. Elementary School. Students in 7th through 12th grade attend schools in the Central Regional School District. All schools are highly rated and offer many academic and extracurricular activities.
