Sea Girt

Located in Monmouth County, the Borough of Sea Girt is a quiet residential community along the Jersey Shore. Known for its small-town charm, rural landscape, and active community life - the town is well-loved by locals and visitors alike. With a small land area of just over 1 square mile and a population of under 2,000 people, the small town explodes in the summer when people flock to its pristine beaches. The town was officially formed in 1917 and named by a local wealthy estate owner.

In regards to entertainment options, don’t let Sea Girt’s size and tranquility fool you - there’s still plenty to do! The historic Sea Girt Lighthouse has been operational since 1896 and is one of only 20 lighthouses left in the state. The gorgeous estate offers tours to the public every Sunday. History buffs may also want to check out the National Guard Militia Museum, which features an experimental hand-cranked submarine based on an 1863 design. But don’t worry, it’s not all history and museums. There are many locally-owned restaurants, cafes, and shops in town that bring visitors from all along the Shore.

Besides its seaside charm, Sea Girt has much to offer its younger population. The Sea Girt School District is highly rated and serves students from pre-K through 8th grade at the local Sea Girt Elementary School. The US Dept of Ed recognized the school for a National Blue-Ribbon Award, the highest level of recognition for schools in America - not once, but twice! For 9th through 12th grade, students attend Manasquan High School in the neighboring town.

For those that need to commute, Sea Girt is a short drive from Exit 98 on the Garden State Parkway. Train service is also available at the nearby stations in Manasquan and Spring Lake on the New Jersey Northeast Coastline.
