Located along the Raritan River in Somerset County, Bound Brook is a small town with about 10,000 residents. The town sits between two brooks, the Middlebrook to the west and the Green Brook to the east. The Green Brook is also known as the Bound Brook, which is where the town gets its namesake. Full of charm and quaintness, the town has its own well-maintained downtown, but is also within convenient distance to both New York and Philadelphia.
The community hosts several annual family-friendly carnivals, holiday events, and Farmer’s Markets throughout the year. History buffs can enjoy a reenactment of the Battle of Bound Brook every year, as well as an exciting Memorial Day parade. The town also offers fun activities like Movies in the Park, a Halloween walk/costume contest, and the popular winter holiday ceremony.
Kids and adults are encouraged to join the many recreational sports leagues and activities the park district has to offer. There are several parks and playgrounds in town, as well as biking and walking paths. If you’re a train fanatic, you can join the local “railfans” as they watch and photograph the freight trains as they pass by the station.
Bound Brook also features a charming old library – where you can take classes, catch a concert, or join a local club. In addition to the library, the town offers plenty of picturesque views of both architecture and nature. A lot of which you can take in more closely from the Raritan River. Fishing, boating, and kayaking in the Raritan River are also very popular activities.
