Hazlet

Located in Monmouth County, Hazlet is a township near Raritan Bay. The town got its name from Dr. John Hazlett, who owned an estate near what’s now known as Holmdel Road. With a population of just over 20,000 people, Hazlet is part of the Bayshore Regional Strategic Plan. The goal is to emphasize traditional downtowns and natural coastlines, both of which Hazlet has.

Hazlet is extremely convenient for the daily commuter, or the weekend day-tripper as a suburb of New York. But you don’t need to venture outside the town limits for entertainment. There’s plenty to do in Hazlet! Besides beautifully maintained parks and gardens, the town offers many different activities. The Hazlet Swim Club features a large recreational pool, an area specifically designed for children, and a tube slide. The community also puts on annual events like the Fireworks show over the 4th of July holiday.

As far as shopping and dining, Hazlet has plenty to offer as well. Main Street of downtown offers a glimpse into the old-world charm of what once was with plenty of locally-owned shops and boutiques. You can rent a bike from one of the many bike shops downtown and spend the day riding around. Several craft shops offer classes on knitting, crocheting, and various other crafts. After you’ve worked up an appetite, there’s every cuisine imaginable to choose from among the unique restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops.

If schooling is a priority, you’ll be happy to know that the Hazlet school district is highly rated and filled with compassionate, dedicated teachers and administrators. The district serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade and currently has just under 3,000 students. Besides top-notch academics, several programs and extracurricular activities are offered as well.
