Located in Middlesex County, Piscataway is around 19 square miles and sits about 35 miles from New York City. It is the 5th oldest town in New Jersey. The town was founded in 1666 and then officially incorporated in 1798. Piscataway is one of the earliest links to Atlantic seacoast settlement and is among the foundation locations for the United States’ formation.
Some consider Piscataway a college town, as it is home to a significant portion of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, as well as the Livingston campuses of Rutgers University. It is also a highly desirable location due to its easy access to Highway 287. The Piscataway School District is highly rated, both for its academics and athletics, and receives an average of A- on most school rating websites. It has around 7,200 students throughout its K-12 programs, who rate high in AP and overall academic testing. It is also rated in the top 20 for diversity in the state.

You are close enough to New York City to get away for day trips or nights out – or you can stay right in town and still have plenty of options.
