Located within Plumsted Township, New Egypt is an unincorporated community with a population of around 2,500 people. With a land area of just over 4 square miles, New Egypt is small but full of plenty of attractions and family-friendly activities.
The town is home to Laurita Winery, a charming 205-acre vineyard located in picturesque woodlands, meadows, and open pastures. Visitors to the winery can attend any of the three tasting bars on the property and sample one of their many award-winning wines. You’ll also find the New Egypt Speedway, where you can watch exciting races. The Oakford Lake & Paradise Park recreational area is a favorite among the locals, who gather for quiet picnics or nature walks.
New Egypt is an antiquer’s dream because of the unique spot, New Egypt Flea Market Village & Auction. This one-of-a-kind market is made up of over forty historic buildings; some are the original WW1 Barracks located from Fort Dix! Shoppers can hunt for rare finds like jewelry, vintage books, and collectibles.
Families will be able to find plenty of kid-friendly activities in New Egypt as well. Emery’s Berry Patch is a 60-acre farm where you can pick your own berries or pick up plenty of goodies in their shop. There are also several playgrounds, parks, and outdoor areas scattered across town. Kids attend Plumsted Township schools, which are highly rated and offer plenty of academic and extracurricular activities for its students.
Commuters will have about a 1.5-hour drive to both New York City and Philadelphia. The NJ Transit system also provides bus service to Philadelphia on the 317 Route. It’s easy to get to anywhere you need to go by accessing the nearby major highways. But residents of New Egypt don’t need to go far - everything they need is right there!
