Hamilton Township is the most populated town in Mercer County and is considered one of the most family-friendly. Known for its attractive residential neighborhood, Hamilton is the picture-perfect suburban community families search for. On the larger side, at almost 40 square miles and a population of over 87,000 people, Hamilton has a little something for everyone. The town is home to over 64 public parks, playgrounds, and acres of preserved open nature space.
The town is also a great spot for commuters. It’s only an hour's drive to New York City and Philadelphia. And for the weekends, it’s only a short drive to the Jersey Shore. For even more fun, Hamilton is close to Six Flags Great Adventure and the historic downtowns of Princeton and Trenton. You can get to just about anywhere you want by hopping on the New Jersey Turnpike or other nearby major highways. The Hamilton Train Station also offers rail access to NYC.
Throughout the year, the town offers many different community events like its annual Azalea Festival, 4th of July Fireworks and Concert, Oktoberfest, and its massively popular Winter Wonderland. Kids interested in sports can join several sports teams and athletic clubs, and there are several recreational options for all ages throughout the park district. On top of all that, the Senior Center holds events, dances, and classes all year long.
As a family-oriented town, you would expect the school system to be strong. The Hamilton Township School District doesn’t disappoint. Its highly rated schools serve students in pre-K through 12th grade. The district is made up of 23 schools, 11,700 students, and around 935 classroom teachers. There are several different private schools in town and nearby as well.
