Pemberton is a township located in Burlington County with a population of around 27,000 people. The town sits among a mix of open fields and forests, as well as several small waterways, including tributaries of the Delaware River. Pemberton was originally established in 1846 and currently encompasses 64 square miles of land including other census designated communities such as Whitesbog, Birmingham, and Browns Mills. The township began as a milling town which became a retreat for city residents who were looking to escape their busy neighborhoods and enjoy nature and the clean water streams that Pemberton provided.
This rural town is currently home to several parks and recreation areas, including the Pemberton Community Park and the Pemberton Twp. Recreation Complex. The community park has a playground, basketball courts, and a walking trail. The recreation complex has a pool, a skate park, and fields for sports like soccer and baseball.
There are many restaurants and shops in Pemberton, including several small locally owned businesses like Riccardo’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant and the Whitesbog General Store. The town is known for its farmer's market, held on Saturdays in the summer and fall which features fresh produce and other local goods.
The school district in Pemberton is highly rated, with several elementary, middle, and high schools serving the community. The schools offer a variety of different extracurricular activities including team sports. There are also a few private school options in the area, including a Catholic school and a Montessori school.
Public transportation in Pemberton is limited, but there are a few bus routes that serve the town. Commuting to nearby cities is fairly easy, with Philadelphia and Trenton being just a short drive away. Pemberton is also conveniently located near several major highways, including the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 295.
