Union Beach

Located in Monmouth County, Union Beach is a small borough in the Raritan Bayshore coastline. The town’s beachfront has undergone extensive restoration in recent years and offers a gorgeous view of both the NYC skyline and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Like other neighboring towns, Union Beach was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. But through a yearlong effort from volunteers and townspeople, the town was restored to its original glory.

Union Beach is located conveniently to nearby cities. Commuters have about an hour drive to NYC, starting from Route 36, which runs along the town’s southern border. Public bus service is also available along the 817 route. The town is just a short distance away from anything you could want or need - and there are plenty of local restaurants, shops, and shopping centers within the town itself and nearby. Union Beach residents get to enjoy the convenience of suburb life while still maintaining a quiet, seaside small-town feel.

The Union Beach School System is available for students from pre-K through 8th grade at Union Beach Memorial School. There are about 640 students and 62 classroom teachers in total. Kids in grades 9-12 attend Keyport High School in Keyport. However, students have the option to apply to attend Red Bank Regional High School for its specialized programs. There are career-oriented programs at the Monmouth County Vocational School District.

The town’s beaches are unique from many other ones on the shore. You’ll find quiet, marshy sands - perfect for birdwatching or peaceful picnics. The salty marshes offer a different vibe than the tourist-favorite beaches and are beloved by the locals. Besides the beach, there are also several parks, bike paths, and outdoor areas in town perfect for any age group.
