Tinton Falls

Tinton Falls became its own town on July 18, 1950. That was the date when the town broke away from Shrewsbury Township. Tinton Falls was known as New Shrewsbury until 1975, which is when the town was given its present name.

If you are interested in green energy, you will be happy to know that the town is home to the Tinton Falls Solar Farm. The solar farm is the largest in the state and produces enough electricity to power almost two-thirds of the houses in Tinton Falls.

Recreation-wise, the town has something for everyone. It has the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets, an outdoor shopping mall with 120 outlet stores, and several parks.

Tinton Falls is home to Shark River Park, which is part of the Monmouth County Park System. The park is a popular destination for elementary school trips because Shark River, which bisects the park, is known for its fossils and prehistoric shark teeth. Shark River Park also has a playground and hiking trails. Those with a fishing license can fish for largemouth bass, catfish, yellow perch, and more.

For those who don't want to go to a large park, Tinton Falls has several small borough-owned parks with a variety of football, baseball, and soccer fields as well as basketball courts. The town also has Twin Brook Golf Center, which is a 9-hole public golf course with a miniature golf course and driving range.

As for education, Tinton Falls, Eatontown, Shrewsbury Township, and Naval Weapons Station Earle make up the Tinton Falls School district. Mahala F. Atchison Elementary School houses kindergarten to 3rd grade, while Swimming River Elementary School houses 4th to 5th grades. Tinton Falls Middle School is home to grades 6 through 8. Students in grades 9 through 12 attend Monmouth Regional High School or one of the magnet programs in the Monmouth County Vocational School District. The magnet programs include the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Academy of Allied Health & Science, High Technology High School, Biotechnology High School, and Communications High School.
