Spotswood

Located in Middlesex County, Spotswood is a borough nestled within the heart of Raritan Valley. The South River runs through the town, giving it a cozy feel. Somewhat on the smaller size, Spotswood has a population of just over 8,000 people and about 2.4 square miles of land area. The town is full of forested and woodland landscapes, all accented by the peaceful river. It’s an excellent spot for growing families or even young professionals looking for a quiet place to make roots.

Spotswood has several parks located throughout town, all maintained by the dedicated Parks and Rec department. Each park features well-maintained playground equipment, as well as walking and biking trails. The Recreation Department offers several sporting activities for all ages and summer camps. The Spotswood Public Library is very active in the community and offers many different free programs and classes for children and adults.

The Spotswood Public Schools are highly rated and serve kids in pre-K through 12th grade. The school has just about 1,750 students and 140 classroom teachers. Students from nearby Helmetta also attend Spotswood schools, as well as high schoolers from Milltown. There are several private school and preschool options in town and the nearby area as well.

The location of Spotswood is very convenient for travelers and commuters and is just under an hour’s drive to New York City. There are many ways to get to Route 18, which provides easy access to both the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. The NJ Transit provides a bus service with several stops in town for those looking for public transportation. There is also a bus commuting hub with a parking deck located minutes away in East Brunswick.
