Millstone

You can find Millstone Township in the southwestern section of Monmouth County. The beautiful rural landscape still looks mostly the same from its early founding in the mid-1800s. The town gets its name from the Millstone River, which was named by the Lenape Indians. In its early days, the town consisted of several historic villages, of which Clarksburg and Perrineville still remain. Millstone’s historical society works hard to preserve the town’s rich history and offers several tours throughout the year.

There are several large parks located around town, each offering its own amenities. Whether you’re looking to play tennis, take nature walks, launch your boat, go horseback riding or just have a picnic with your family, there are limitless options. The bike paths alone are worth the trip. And pet owners will be happy to know that dogs are allowed at all Millstone parks, as long as they are on a leash.

Families with school-aged children will be happy to know that the Millstone school district is highly rated. The district serves students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Students in 9th-12th grade attend Allentown High School in Allentown. The district boasts a “unique and inclusive learning community” and offers many different academic and extracurricular activities for its students.

Like many other historic towns in the county, Millstone has plenty to offer for entertainment. Besides the annual festivals and events, the township is home to many unique restaurants and shops. When it comes to food, there is a wide variety of pretty much any type of cuisine you might crave, all within charming, cozy spots.
