Green Brook

Located in the heart of Somerset County, the Township of Green Brook took its name from the stream that flows in the mountain several miles away. Filled with small town charm, the town motto is “Small enough to know you, large enough to get things done.” The town is also home to Washington Rock State Park, where George Washington and Marquis De Lafayette watched British soldiers move over their territory during the Revolutionary War. With over 34 acres of beautiful forest, countryside, and plenty of walking and hiking paths - visitors from all over the state frequent the park each year.

Besides Washington Rock State Park, there are many other public parks within Green Brook. Each one allows you to rent park pavilions for gatherings, parties, and events. The park pavilions are extremely popular – so much so that you’ll find a waiting list when making a reservation. Their recreation department provides many outdoor classes, programs, and activities for all ages throughout the year.

The Green Brook School District is highly rated and serves students from pre-K through 8th grade. The district is made up of two schools and a total of 770 students, and 82 teachers. 9th through 12th-grade students attend Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren Township. The schools offer stellar academics, tutoring services, and before/after school programs. There are also team sports and several extracurricular activities for all grades.

With plenty of restaurants and shops in town, there’s no reason to leave Green Brook. However, the town is so close to both New York City and Philadelphia, commuting is a non-issue. Bus service and train stations in the neighboring towns are also available for those looking for alternatives to driving.
