The small town of Deal is just 1.2 square miles but packs quite a punch with character. The English settlers came to Deal in 1670 and named it after the English town of Deale. But up until the late 1800s, the little area was mainly used for farming and fishing. It wasn’t until developers purchased the land in the 1900’s that it became a residential town. To this day, a big part of Deal’s charm is the large, beautiful mansions dotted along its streets.
Besides fancy architecture, Deal boasts pristine beaches and great nearby dining in Ocean Grove, Long Branch, and Sea Bright. It may not have a bustling downtown or a robust commercial district, but Deal’s appeal comes in the form of peace, quiet, and friendly faces. Tourists coming to see more popular Shore towns sometimes end up in Deal for its sights and tranquility. They may also visit the legendary Deal Casino Beach Club, which sits on 30 acres and has members from across the East Coast.
Although Deal is a small town, its schools are highly rated. The Deal School District serves public school students from kindergarten through 8th grade at centrally located Deal School. Students in 9th-12th grade attend Shore Regional High School in nearby West Long Branch. High school students also have the option to attend Academy Charter High School in Lake Como through a lottery system. Besides competitive academics, Deal offers many different extracurricular activities as well as several sporting teams.

There are two bus stops in the town itself, as well as train stations in neighboring towns. The drive to NYC will take you a little over an hour by taking the nearby Garden State Parkway.
