Family Friendly Fall Activities

The Summer may be over, but that just means Fall is right around the corner. Fall means hayrides, apple picking and plenty of fun family festivals. Here’s a list of some of our favorite   Fall activities that you and the kids can enjoy this year.

Fall Festival

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 13th for the Fall Festival at Monmouth Park Racetrack. This free event will feature live racing and professional football and is a great alternative to the more traditional fall festivals you’ll find in the area.

Harvest Home Festival

This annual event at the Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel is an old-fashioned county fair based around the ones of the 1890s. Families can participate in games and athletic contests reminiscent of the late 1800s, as well as fun activities like wagon rides, live bands, and crafts demonstrations. There’s something for everyone at the Harvest Home Festival, so pack your bonnets and come have some fun!

Thompson Park Day

On October 14th, bring the family to Thompson Park Day in Lincroft for some early Halloween fun. Enjoy pie-eating contests, pumpkin painting, canoe races and much more. This fun kid-friendly event is free to enter and even features a dog Halloween costume contest! So furry family members are invited too.

Boat Rentals at the Manasquan Reservoir

If festivals and fairs aren’t your thing, there’s plenty of other great Fall activities to participate in with your family in the area. Consider renting a kayak or rowboat to enjoy on the Manasquan Reservoir. Soak up all those sun rays and warm weather while it’s still here. Boat rentals are only available through the end of October, so plan your trip soon.

So no matter what you’re looking for, New Jersey has got you covered for Fall. Take your family out to enjoy any of these activities and you’re all bound to have a great time!
